TALENT

Music: DJ Craze

Craze’s life is a legacy of rags to riches, geek to chic, no-name to world fame. He never had it easy from fleeing a battle in Nicaragua at the age of 3 to a geeky adolescence to Hurricane Andrew hitting Miami in 1992 nor did have ever have any coattails to ride; his is a story that's an uphill battle, but a story that ends right at the top. "My mom always taught me I could do anything I put my mind to. So when she asked what I wanted to do with my turntables, I told her, 'Be the best DJ in the world,'" Craze casually laughs. And that he proved 3 times at the DMC World Championships, an unprecedented record, and a title that no other solo DJ has yet to match.

Music: Gaslamp Killer

The Gaslamp Killer is a Los Angeles-based DJ whose eclectic style ranges from psychedelia and world music to dubstep and left-field hip-hop. Associated with Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder Records, he made his production debut in the late 2000s with a series of EPs. Gaslamp District’s bar scene inspired him to name himself the Gaslamp Killer in disgust for much of the patronage. Upon relocating to Los Angeles, he found a niche for himself amid the city’s massive underground party scene and ultimately found a home for himself as a resident DJ at the club Low End Theory.

Interactive Fashion Installations by Chillin' Productions

Irene Hernandez-Feiks founded Chillin' Productions in 1998, with the purpose of discovering and aiding Bay Area fashion designers, painters, photographers, filmmakers, DJ's, musicians and performers. The goal has been to provide exposure and create new opportunities for the artists. In her tenure as a promoter, Irene has made a point of never taking commissions or charging designers to sell their work. In short, all of the money made by the artist goes to the artist. Chillin' Productions produces 4 events per year with each event showcasing 60 fashion designers, 60 painters/photographers, 60 filmmakers, 7 DJ's and live music. Irene’s latest project is her boutique Wonderland at 2929 24th Street in SF’s Mission District.

Music: Support

Scionify’s launch event brings together many of San Francisco’s leading edge DJs and promoters spanning a wide swath of today’s most out front genres including electro, disco, dubstep, and turntablism.

The event will feature one of San Francisco’s most over-the-top parties which yearly dazzles LovEvolution with next-level production on their float: Solid Gold Jacuzzi. This lineup reads like a who’s who of San Francisco’s electro talent: Rock It Science founder Eric Sharp, Lights Down Low’s Sleazemore, Shane King of Hacksaw Entertainment, Blasthaus resident Nisus, and Midweek Meltdown’s Swayzee.

The dark depths of Temple’s Catacombs will host 2 prominent promoters of dubstep and bass-heavy music. Best of the Bay winner Surya Dub’s head honcho Maneesh The Twister will join the fray, fresh on the heels of their 3 year anniversary event. Dials, the latest addition to the Change The Beat weekly event at Som, will be on hand as well.

Disco and Soul will reign in the Destiny Lounge, with Solid Bump Records founder White Girl Lust along with Honey Soundsystem and Hakobo, member of Fresco & The Culprits and owner of Som nightclub.

VENUE

Paul Hemming brings a vision to the Zen Compound that focuses on revolutionizing the nightclub and hospitality industry by “Greening” them—entities that were not related concepts in the past. The Zen Compound is an entertainment complex, with its finger on society's pulse, is designed to go well beyond a traditional nightclub and world-class restaurant. More than a place for people to unwind and stimulate their senses, Zen Compound is a hub of creative spirituality – exactly as the name suggests. Visitors to the Compound create and perform art, music and dance while they are enriching their Western experience with an Eastern education. The Zen Compound merges modern design with antiquities dating back to the 11th Century and ancient philosophy with cutting-edge technology. In addition, it houses a culinary, visual and audio spectacle while cultivating the first pioneering program for nightclub sustainability in the United States.
